Breastfeeding allowance
The EsSalud breastfeeding subsidy grants an amount of S/820 to cover the initial expenses of the newborn. This benefit is aimed at the mother of the baby, provided that the father is an insured person. It is essential that the insured know the requirements to access this bonus and can receive the help in a timely manner.
Requirements:
- Maintain an employment relationship during the birth of the baby.
- Register the minor as a beneficiary of the insured owner.
- Complete and submit Form 1040, available on the EsSalud website or at its agencies.
- Submit the form within six months of the postpartum period.
Maternity benefit
The maternity benefit is intended to compensate for the loss of income during pregnancy and postpartum, as well as for the care of the newborn. This benefit is granted for a total of 98 days, starting 49 days before the probable date of delivery. The amount is calculated based on the average daily wages of the last 12 months prior to the month in which the contingency begins, multiplied by the number of days of medical leave.

EsSalud subsidy for insured persons who cannot work
Also called temporary disability benefitl, EsSalud grants it to insured persons who cannot work due to illness or accident, starting from the twenty-first day of the disability and extending up to eleven months and ten consecutive days. This bonus is vital for workers facing temporary disability, providing financial support during their recovery.
Requirements:
- Having contributed for three consecutive months or four non-consecutive months within the six months prior to the start of the disability.
- Complete Form 1040.
- Present the CITT issued by a doctor.
EsSalud death benefit
