Dollar closes on the last Monday of 2021 at S / 3.9740, its lowest level since October 26

The dollar it closed down this Monday, December 27, the last of 2021, and stood at S / 3.9740, after starting the day at S / 4.0050, reported the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP).

It is the biggest drop in the dollar since last October 26, two months ago, when it reached S / 3,988. On the 25th of that month it had precisely marked S / 3.9740 in its price, according to figures from the BCRP.

During the afternoon, the intervention of the issuing entity was minimal. Interest rate swaps were placed for a term of three months for S / 50 million; and the green light was given to auctions of CDV BCRP for three months, for S / 200 million; one-week Deposits, for S / 1,199.9 million; and Overnight Deposits, for S / 8,507.5 million.

In the interbank market, the main banks in the country offer the North American currency at S / 3.971 for purchase and S / 4.01 for sale. For their part, the ordinary money changers and exchange houses offer the dollar at S / 3.98 for the purchase and S / 4.02 for the sale.

This occurs on the day that the Congress of the Republic made official the law that delegates powers to the Executive to legislate on tax, fiscal, financial and reactivation matters. The term that the Pedro Castillo administration will have to legislate on the aforementioned matters is 90 calendar days, counted from the effective date of this legislative decree.

At the international level, the greenback started with a drop of 0.41%; although in year-on-year terms it still maintains an increase of 4.54%, reported Reuters. With respect to previous days, it chained two consecutive dates falling. The volatility figure is clearly lower than the figure achieved for the last year (5.33%), showing itself as a value with less changes than recently predicted.

In the annual photo, the US dollar has reached a maximum of $ 0.89, while its lowest level has been $ 0.81. The US dollar is closer to its high than its low.
