UNA has five silos plants, in Babahoyo, Ventanas, Quevedo, Daule and Portoviejo, with a total storage capacity of 48,000 tons.
The National Confederation of Communes of Ecuador (Confenaccom) will receive in loan all the silos at the national level of the defunct EP Storage Unit, which was created on June 17, 2013, during the government of Rafael Correa, but liquidated under the regime of Lenín Moreno, who ordered its disappearance in May of 2020.
ONE disappears and now the debate is over who is left in charge of silos and warehouses
After the liquidation process, UNA EP was left under the responsibility of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG).
Meanwhile, the passage of the silos will take place this Wednesday, December 29, in the Daule canton, through the signing of an agreement between the holder of the MAG, Pedro Alava, and the president of Confenaccom, Efren Reyes.
“The objective of the agreement is to boost storage capacity and production, lower production costs and give economic sustainability to small producers of rice, corn, soybeans and other products,” explained Reyes.
