Extraordinary income from the sale of Enel Generación Perú and debt collection from Telefónica del Perú helped tax collection in the sixth month of the year, the authority noted.
Tax revenues in June reached S/10,734 million, which means an increase of 3.9% compared to the same period in 2023, reported the National Superintendence of Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat). The result of the sixth month of the year, explained the entity, is mainly supported by the increase in collection for the concepts of Regularization and Payments on Account of the Third Category Income Tax.
In the June result, Sunat highlighted the higher extraordinary income, coming from the sale of a company in the electric power generation sector (sale of Enel Generación Perú), as well as those from the collection of debt from a company in the telecommunications sector (Telefónica del Perú) recorded as Payments on Account of Third Category Income Tax and Regularization.
According to the tax collection agency, the performance of the May economic activitywhose internal tax obligations are paid during June, also boosted the growth of revenue in that period.
However, not all is good news, as according to the Sunat He explained that the collection of the month was impacted by the application of some regulatory changes, including Law No. 31903, which provides for the free disposal of funds from the withholding accounts belonging to companies considered MYPES, “which has been affecting the collection flows corresponding to the collection of tax debt and the so-called Income as Collection (ICR).”
The entity also notes a negative effect of Law No. 31962, which modified the application of interest both in refunds and in the updating of fines. Another rule, which would be affecting the collection, according to the Sunatis Law No. 31940, which established the postponement of the declaration and payment of Regularization of Income Tax for Natural Persons and MYPES companies corresponding to the fiscal year 2023, establishing a new calendar of due dates with payments that were made during the months of May and June.
