EsSalud for children of legal age: only in this case can they join the insurance

Having health insurance is crucial to ensure access to quality health services and receive timely medical care. EsSalud It stands out as one of the main providers of medical coverage, offering various subsidies and benefits to its insured, who are mainly dependent workers.

EsSalud offers a wide range of benefits and financial subsidies designed to support its policyholders in various situations. From maternity coverage to disability benefits, EsSalud guarantees access to essential medical services. But what about adult children? Here we explain in which cases they can benefit from the insurance.

In which cases can adult children access EsSalud?

EsSalud allows adult children to access insurance coverage only if they are totally and permanently unable to work. This condition must be evaluated and confirmed by EsSalud.

This measure seeks to ensure that those who cannot support themselves financially due to a disability have access to health services. They can receive medical care, treatments and other benefits offered by EsSalud, thus providing essential support to families facing difficult situations.

EsSalud and beneficiaries: what other family members of the policyholder can join?

In addition to older children with disabilities, EsSalud allows the affiliation of other beneficiaries of the holder. These include:

  • The spouse or partner: EsSalud extends coverage to the husband or wife of the policyholder. In the case of cohabitation, the union must be duly recognized.
  • Minor children: Children under 18 years of age of the insured may also benefit from coverage, ensuring that they receive medical care from birth until they reach the age of majority.
  • Children from conception: EsSalud provides care to pregnant mothers, ensuring that prenatal care is accessible.

Where can you register your beneficiaries?

Registering beneficiaries in EsSalud is a process that must be carried out by the policyholder’s employer, through the T-Registry, using the information provided by the insured.

However, insured persons can also register their dependents through the Insured’s Virtual Integrated Window (LIVE). This online system allows you to register minor children, spouse, common-law partner, surrogate mother of an illegitimate child, or older child who is totally and permanently incapacitated for work.

To access VIVA, you must register on the platform and obtain a username and password. With this information, you can log in and register your beneficiaries.
