July is one of the most anticipated months for workers, since it is when they receive their bonus and Christmas bonus. This last economic benefit is deposited once for state officials, servants and pensioners with the purpose of obtaining an additional income to cover expenses for the celebrations of Fiestas Patrias, as well as to enjoy recreational activities with their families.
So far, the government of Dina Boluarte has not published the Supreme Decree that formalizes the payment of the bonusHowever, the public budget law for fiscal year 2024 provides for the payment of this financial resource for July and December, which is not subject to contributions, levies or discounts of any kind.

According to article 7 of the public budget law for fiscal year 2024, the bonus is paid twice a year to state employees and officials. In this sense, this additional income will be deposited in the July payroll of the following beneficiaries:

CAS 2024 Christmas Bonus: How much am I entitled to?
The Christmas and National Holiday bonuses, which are included in the payment form for July and December, amount to S/300. In this sense, said benefit is not subject to contributions, levies or discounts of any kind, except for those other discounts established by law or authorized by the worker.
Although all the details of this year’s legal regulations are not yet known, Supreme Decree No. 150-2023-EF, which was published last year, contained the following provisions:
- For the national teaching staff, the bonus will be calculated in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 29944. Teachers with full working hours are granted an amount not less than that indicated in literal a) of numeral 7.1 of article 7 of the Public Sector Budget Law for 2023
- Human Medicine and Dentistry interns will receive a bonus payment of S/100, within the framework of what is established in the Second Final Complementary Provision of Emergency Decree No. 016-2020.
What is the difference between a Christmas bonus and a gratuity?
The main difference between the Christmas bonus and the gratuity is that the former is intended for public sector workers, while the latter is only received by private sector employees who are on the payroll. Employees of public institutions receive S/300, according to Supreme Decree No. 274-2023-EF; on the other hand, the gratuity is equivalent to an additional salary plus a 9% bonus for EsSalud or 6.75% for EPS.
