An inclusive culture needs to be created to improve productivity, according to Bumeran Perú.
70% of Peruvians acknowledge having suffered discrimination at some point in their workplace, according to Bumeran’s Diversity at Work report.
At the regional level, the countries with the highest rate of discrimination at work are Chile (84%) and Argentina (83%).
According to the report, 30% of human resources specialists faced difficulties in including talent for their organizations.
Returning to the feelings of the employees, 54% stated that they had been discriminated against because of their age; 19%, due to their gender; 16%, because of their skin color; 8% for being a person with a disability and 4% for their sexual orientation.
It is urgent to address inclusion in companies and strengthen policies and practices in favor of an environment where talents are valued —says Dora Pinedo, head of marketing at Bumeran Perú. “Furthermore, creating an inclusive culture not only improves talent productivity, but also brings benefits to the organization in terms of innovation and competitiveness,” she noted.
What do companies do in favor of inclusion?
57% of human resources specialists have taken steps to encourage diversity. 43% acknowledge that they have not done so. Compared with other neighboring countries, we far surpass Ecuador (35%), Chile (33%) and Argentina (25%). Panama has a rate of 75%.
And, within the strategies, 63% of the experts recognized that they opt for mandatory talks and training that deconstruct their workforce and also that they evaluate and review company policies to guarantee diversity.
50% have opted for inclusive hiring policies and 38% for protocols against inequality or mistreatment. 13% established a manual of good practices and codes of conduct, although it is notable in Bumeran’s report that none of them have created areas of containment or support in the face of different situations of discrimination or discomfort.
