The download mobile internet speed in Peru – understood as data downloading – is among the 25 most inefficient in the world, according to Ookla, Speedtest Global Index.
The Peruvian Organization of Consumers and Users (Opecu) specifies that, according to the Ookla ranking, the download mobile internet speed in our country is 19.97 mbps. Although it improved 0.67 megabits, we are in 122nd place out of 147 evaluated. At the regional level, we are 18th in America and 8th in South America.
Even of the economies that make up the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), we have the worst mobile internet download service.
And, regarding the speed of fixed download internet, in Peru it rose from 137.58 to 154.24 megabits. We rank 32 out of 181 countries in the world.
Hector Plate Cánepa, president of Opecu, pointed out that there is an urgent need for greater oversight and adequate supervision by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications and Osiptel of telecommunications operating companies so that they “comply with providing ideal services in the country.”
