Beyond the affinity for a career, studying the opportunities and demand for them based on the mechanics of the labor market is key, according to a study carried out by the San Ignacio de Loyola University (USIL).
In recent years, the employability rate in our country has experienced improvements. In 2022, it stood at 87%, but by 2024 it rose to 92%, according to a study carried out by the San Ignacio de Loyola University (USIL).
Along these lines, Marketing and Commercial Management are the careers that stand out the most, registering an increase from 87% to 96% in terms of employability. Likewise, the Business and Systems Engineering degree increased by 7%, as did Industrial Engineering.
According to Susana Lamas, director of Employability at USIL, understanding the mechanics of the labor market in Peru is key when choosing a professional career, since, in addition to personal interests, the opportunities and demands of the profession are transcendental.
Currently, graduates of Business and Systems Engineering are those who obtain the best salaries among professional careers for executives, with average earnings of S/5,146. They are followed by those in Marketing and Commercial Management with S/4,517 and Administration and Finance with S/3,966.
According to the study, 73% of graduates work in dependent jobs, 11% combine both types of work, 8% work independently and the other 8% are not currently employed. Of them, 78% are actively seeking job opportunities.
On the other hand, in terms of permanence, it was recorded that 11% of those surveyed exceeded a decade in their current job, 21% had worked between 5 and 10 years, 42% had been there for one to five years and the 25% have less than one year of experience.
