The May collection, discounting the tax refund, reached S/11,577 million, Sunat reported. This amount rounds out a 5.5% drop in the first five months of 2024, with an accumulated total in the treasury of S/66,547 million, as well as a 1.5% decline compared to the same month in 2023.
The performance in May collection was mainly supported by lower payments of customs taxes, especially VAT and external ISC.
“In this regard, it should be noted that this contraction in the month’s collection was not generated at the level of the payment of taxes applied on imports,” reported the highest issuing entity.
Lower payments on account of the third category of Income Tax were also recorded as a reflection of the evolution of business results corresponding to the year 2023.
In detail, in May S/4,519 million were collected for IR, an amount that represents an increase of 5.4% compared to the same month in 2023.
Meanwhile, VAT collection reached S/6,875 million in May, an amount that represented a drop of 4.8% compared to the same month in 2023.
Finally, Sunat specified that ISC collection reached S/713 million in May, which represents a decrease of 1.7%.
