The largest oil field in the country will be managed by Petroperú and its strategic partner Altamesa.
During his questioning in Congress, the head of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, Rómulo Mucho, announced that Lot 192 (Datem del Marañón) would resume operations in October of this year.
It is worth adding that this operation – considered the largest in the country – will be managed mainly by the company Altamesa Energy Perú SAC and by Petroperú, after the license contract for its exploitation was modified, removing the state company’s prominence.
On the other hand, Mucho Mamani maintained that for Lot 8 – to be exploited by Upland Oil and Gas LLC – a contract will be signed this month for it to operate temporarily.
“In Lot 8 this month the contract will be signed so that it operates temporarily. In the case of the 192, we expect it to enter operations in October. It should be noted that these lots will have social funds for the development of social projects,” the minister noted.
Much added that his portfolio evaluates the possibility of finding oil offshore, which would imply a risk investment—typical of exploratory activity. This activity will not affect artisanal fishing, he specifies.
