V Congress of Amazonian Entrepreneurs (CEA) 2024. The Environmental Fund of Peru highlighted the benefits of an “ecological and bioceanic train” that crosses the different regions of the Amazon, as well as reinforcing the railways and developing the waterway for maritime transport.
René Chávez, regional governor of Loreto, pointed out during the V Congress of Amazonian Entrepreneurs (CEA) 2024 that he is considering investing S/150 million to promote connectivity from Yurimaguas to Iquitos.
“We want to promote multimodal connectivity without altering the ecosystem, without damaging our environment. Currently we have important gaps in terms of electrical energy, roads and digital connectivity,” said Chávez.
For his part, Anton Willems, executive director of the Environmental Fund of Peru, highlighted the urgency of promoting connectivity from a sustainable perspective that gives rise to innovation processes with technological development taking into account different realities.
In this sense, the aim is to create an ecological and bioceanic train, as well as reinforce the railways and develop the waterway for maritime transport. This would somehow allow us to reduce 11% of the limited connectivity that the Amazon has.
In addition, based on Law 27037, Law to promote investment in the Amazon, of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, the Congress of Amazonian Entrepreneurs (CEA) 2024 proposes achieving the bioeconomy to promote development sustainable and comprehensive of the region, establishing in turn the conditions for public investment and the promotion of private investment
