ArcelorMittal will stop production at some plants in Europe due to the high price of light

ArcelorMittal has four plants in the Basque Country. However, in the absence of official confirmation, the measure could affect the Olaberria and Bergara factories.

ArcelorMittal will perform intermittent stoppages at several of your plants in Europe as a result of the rise in the price of electricity, according to what has been advanced Financial Times and has confirmed EITB Media.

ArcelorMittal has four plants in the Basque Country, two in Bizkaia (Sestao and Etxebarri) and another two in Gipuzkoa (Bergara and Olaberria).

However, the measure would only apply to long-product power mills and, therefore, the plants that could be affected by partial shutdowns are those of Olaberria and Bergara.

However, the management has not yet clarified which companies will be affected.

Sidenor opened this route last Monday to face the continuous increase in the cost of electricity.

The Basque steel mill will stop the production of its Basauri main plant intermittently until Christmas due to the “exorbitant” price it pays for the electricity it needs to carry out its manufacturing processes.
