Latam Airlines, Sky Peru and JetSmart have detailed the procedures to follow if you have had problems with your flight due to the power outage at Jorge Chávez Airport.

A short circuit in the lights on the main runway of the Jorge Chávez International Airport caused widespread chaos in various airports national. More than 120 flights were canceled or diverted, and multiple aircraft from different regions or abroad had to land at local and foreign airports. José Luis Barrios Espinoza, president of the Board of Directors of Corpac, explained that the problem with the lights on the main runway was caused by “a short circuit in the networks.”

In an interview with the ‘Cuarto Poder’ program, the official clarified that the failure is in the networks and not in the equipment, which is why the decision has been made to open the second landing strip. Faced with the difficult situation, the airlines have facilitated the return or change of flight dates for all passengers affected by the power outage at the Jorge Chávez Airport.

Latam Airlines

The main airline operation in Peru specified what options users have. These are:

  • If your flights to/from Lima have been canceled and/or rescheduled, you can change the date or refund, without any associated charge, up to one year from now.
  • If your flights to/from Lima on June 3 and 4 have not been canceled and/or rescheduled, you can choose to make changes at no associated cost within the next 7 days or request a refund.

Sky Peru

From Sky Peru They reported that they had to suspend their flights and redirect some to alternative airports. In order to help passengers impacted by this situation, they have made the following options available:

  • Modification of the flight date without additional costs or fare difference charges, valid for travel within 12 months following the original flight date.
  • Full 100% refund, using the same payment method or through a voucher, depending on the passenger’s preference.

JetSmart

The airline JetSmart informs that, due to the temporary closure of the Jorge Chavez International Airport Due to problems with the lighting of the landing strip, they provide the following alternatives to affected passengers on their flights to or from Lima:

  • Change of flight date while maintaining the same route, as long as the new date is within the next 15 days.
  • Request a giftcard for the amount paid.
