Cosco: the first ships will arrive at the Chancay Megaport in the first two months of 2025

Cosco Shipping Ports Chancay Peru reported that the first ships with container cargo will arrive at the Chancay Megaport in the first two months of 2025, after its inauguration in November of this year.

In dialogue with Canal N, the commercial manager of Cosco Shipping, Alonso Guinand, said that work at the port continues despite the legal controversy with the Peruvian Government, because the National Port Authority (APN) observed its concession contract.

“We are very focused on the operation, the idea is that it will be inaugurated in November and the first vessels will be received between January and February of next year. We are not stopping construction at any time,” he said.

Guinand assured that Cosco continues to maintain exclusivity over the private project for public use, which is why they are developing “all the relevant activities so that the agreed date can be reached.”

“The port, in any case, has to be there in November. For that we have commercial work with the shipping lines and with all the associated activities,” the executive said.

On the other hand, he also referred to the recent survey by the Institute of Peruvian Studies (IEP), which indicates that President Dina Boluarte has only 5% citizen approval.

“Political instability will never, in any project, especially a large one, be a good ally, but regardless of that, the idea is to start thinking as a country,” he explained.
