The salary sought by Peruvians decreased 1.31% during the first four months of 2024, according to the latest Labor Market Index from Bumeran, the leading employment portal in Latin America.
In interannual terms, from April 2023 to April 2024, there is a decrease of 2.20%. During 2024, the largest increase in the average salary requested compared to the previous month was recorded in January with an increase of 1.46%, followed by April with 1.15%.

Dora Pinedo, Head of Marketing at Bumeran Peru, explained that the Bumeran Labor Market Index indicates a decrease in salary expectations for the first four months of 2024. This decrease is evidenced by an accumulated decrease in 2024 of 1.31% and a drop year-on-year of 2.20% compared to the same period in 2023.
“We observe a slowdown in the downward trend; that is, the salary expectations of Peruvians are decreasing at a slower rate, but they still continue to decrease. This could be driven by the decrease in the intended salaries of bosses and supervisors that in the last month It is 2.45% and so far in 2024 it is 10%,” he explained.

applications are Administration and Sales.
In March, the Administration area led with 8.42% of applications, while, in April, it was the Sales positions that registered the highest number of applications, reaching 5.14%. In February, Human Resources positions were the most in demand, with a total of 5.49% of applications.
However, starting in March, the situation changed, and Commercial positions joined Administration and Sales as the most requested, reaching a peak in March with 5.85%. In April, the volume of applications remained high in Administration (8.12%), Commercial (5.85%) and Sales (5.14%) positions.
“This data not only reveals the direction of the market, but also the evolution of labor trends and the valuation that candidates give to different sectors.
