Pedro Castillo wishes to visit China in 2022 to strengthen ties

President Pedro Castillo is interested in making an official visit to China in 2022 with the aim of strengthening bilateral ties and promoting Chinese investment in our country, Foreign Minister Oscar Maúrtua reported.

Last Thursday, the Foreign Minister held a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, Wang Yi, where he referred to the forthcoming accession of our country to the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), which will make it possible to attract financial aid and mobilize funds. , particularly in the areas of energy, transport, connectivity and sustainable cities.

In this sense, Maúrtua also reaffirmed the interest to continue and conclude the process of updating the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with China to achieve greater opportunities and benefits from the agreement.

For his part, Wang expressed his country’s commitment to promoting a higher level of investment in Peru, and the intention to cooperate with the donation of medical equipment to combat the effects of COVID-19, added the Peruvian Foreign Ministry.

Likewise, the foreign ministers highlighted the construction of the Chancay Mega Port, with Chinese investment, which will turn this port terminal north of Lima into an entry point for cargo from Asia in the South Pacific.

It is worth mentioning that China is the first commercial partner and one of the main investors in Peru, with an estimated US $ 30,000 million in investments.
