Various citizens and clients of the Señor de Ánimas Savings and Credit Cooperative clung to the exterior of the aforementioned entity. This occurred after the Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and AFP (SBS) declared it bankrupt. For this reason, the anger and annoyance of those who have their savings and credit accounts within this cooperative was noticeable.
The situation worsened in exactly two headquarters of the entity, located in Chalhuanca, Apurímac region, and in the headquarters of Marcona, belonging to Nasca.
According to images broadcast by Panamericana Television, after hearing the news about the intervention at the Señor de Ánimas cooperative, users did not hesitate to try to enter the premises located in Calhuanca. The situation forced the intervention of the National Police of Peru, since the brawl endangered even the entity’s workers. The tension in the atmosphere was palpable, and the police presence was crucial to prevent the situation from getting out of control.
The intervention by personnel of the S.B.S. in this entity it was due to alleged irregularities, which would have led to the financial entity being unable to sustain itself.
Señor de Ánimas Cooperative denies being bankrupt
The statement issued by the general manager of the Señor de Ánimas Cooperative, Ulises Pareja Riveras, regretted the events and accused the S.B.S. of acting arbitrarily by not publishing the resolution in the official newspaper El Peruano and of violating the constitutional right to due process.
“With deep sadness and indignation we regret all the facts and events that occurred on Thursday, May 23, 2024, in the different agencies of our institution, due to the intervention of the supervisory body, in which all the members of the cooperative have collaborated and provided the requested information under the corresponding mechanisms,” he stated.
Therefore, he denied being bankrupt. “The information that our institution has declared bankruptcy and has issued an official statement regarding processes related to it is false and malicious,” Pareja emphasized.
Along these lines, he asserted that this process has been carried out legally with the support of institutions with which they have alliances. “We are currently working, both legally and in the corresponding procedures, in alliances with institutions that will provide us with their support in this difficult situation, through which we will be able to support our associates, while the intervention process lasts,” he reads. .
Faced with this situation, Pareja Riveras thanked those who have sent their expressions of solidarity and stressed that they will move forward.
“We thank all the people and representatives of the different institutions who have sent us their expressions of affection and special consideration and at the same time we want to make it known that we will not sit idly by, and even less for the trust they have given us during these ten years of institutional life; “All together we will move forward and we will look for the best alternative solutions,” they expressed.
