What bonuses does EsSalud provide and how to access them?
Social Health Insurance (EsSalud) offers its policyholders the possibility of accessing four financial subsidies designed to support those who find themselves in complicated situations or who need help to cover unexpected expenses.

Breastfeeding allowance: It provides an economic amount of S/820 and has the objective of covering the initial expenses of the newborn. It is given to the mother of the baby, child of an insured person.
Requirements:
- Have an employment relationship during the time of birth; Likewise, the minor must be registered as the beneficiary of the insured person.
- Have the 1040. This document is downloaded and completed from the official EsSalud website (click here) or can be requested from an insurance agency.
- You must submit the form within 6 months from the date of your maximum postpartum period.
Maternity allowance: This subsidy is given to insured pregnant women to compensate for the time they will be away from work due to their maternity licence.
Requirements:
- Have an employment relationship at the beginning and during the subsidy period.
- Have the 1040 form, print it and fill it out.
- Present the certificate of Temporary Incapacity for Work (CITT).
Temporary disability allowance: This financial amount is granted to insured people who cannot work due to an illness or accident. This is activated from the 21st day of disability and can be extended up to 11 months and 10 consecutive days.
Requirements:
- Have made contributions during three consecutive months or four non-consecutive months within the six months prior to the onset of disability.
- Download and complete Form 1040.
- Present the (CITT) certificate issued by the doctor.
Burial allowance: the amount up to S/2,070 It is granted to the direct beneficiary of the deceased insured in order to cover funeral expenses. This beneficiary may be the spouse, common-law partner, children, parents, siblings of legal age or a designated third party.
Requirements:
- The deceased insured must have contributed for three consecutive months or four non-consecutive months within the six months prior to death.
- Submit documentation of original receipts for funeral expenses, Form 1040, and the document proving the beneficiary.
- Deliver the documents to one of the EsSalud offices
