More than 70,000 homes already have natural gas service in Chiclayo and Lambayeque

More than 70,000 homes, small businesses owned by entrepreneurs and social entities and CNG vehicles already have natural gas service in Chiclayo and Lambayeque, reported Quavii, a Promigas company responsible for the massification of natural gas in the north of the country.

The Colombian company specified that these positive impacts on people’s quality of life have been achieved in part with the support of the programs of the Social Energy Inclusion Fund (FISE) which, this year alone, has financed the qualification of more than 3,700 homes in these locations.

In Lambayeque, where there are more than 9,000 residential connections, more than 300 new connections have been enabled this year. Meanwhile, in Chiclayo, with a total of 61,000 residential connections, nearly 3,500 new connections have been added between January and May alone.

Likewise, 1,030 km of networks have been built in the region, thus facilitating the reliable distribution of natural gas, of which 26 km were built with FISE resources. This year, it is expected to build an additional 10 km in Pimentel and José Leonardo Ortiz, which will contribute to reaching 5,000 new homes in the region.

Massification of natural gas in favor of the northern population

The company reported that, with the promotion of Bonogas from FISE and Quavii, it has been possible to extend the benefits of the natural gas service to 47 social entities (schools, soup kitchens and mothers’ clubs), which were connected for free.

In addition, 26 small entrepreneurial businesses (restaurants, bakeries and hostels) have been able to obtain improvements in their management since they accessed the efficient service through 5-year financing plans with no initial fee.

In Chiclayo, the “Pedro Abel Labarthe Durand” Polytechnic has stood out, becoming the 2,500th social entity connected to the Bonogas program at the national level. The institution has significant savings from the use of natural gas in the ovens and kitchens of its food industry workshops where it provides technical training to its students.

This fact was highlighted in a ceremony where the Minister of Energy and Mines, Rómulo Mucho, the Vice Minister of Hydrocarbons, Iris Cardenas, as well as Alexandra Boero, manager of Corporate Affairs of Promigas Perú, and Armando Cuello, Commercial Manager of the company, participated.

NGV: natural gas vehicles and conversions for Lambayeque

In the Lambayeque region, there are more than 160 heavy vehicles and 2,700 light vehicles that use natural gas, including the 1,300 conversions that were carried out in the 4 workshops registered in the FISE NGV Savings program, and that receive the supply in the CNG station that operates in the area.

Looking ahead to the end of this year, the goal has been set to open an additional CNG station in Chiclayo, in addition to the one already enabled in the same city, as well as the inauguration of the second Liquefied Natural Vehicular Gas station ( NGV-L) to supply long-distance buses and trucks.

Additionally, the expansion of the NGV Savings program was launched to finance the conversion of motorcycles, as well as larger vehicles (buses and trucks).
