The National Superintendence of Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat) reported that more than 260,000 natural persons without a business completed Virtual Form No. 709 for the presentation of the 2023 Annual Income Tax Declaration. It is expected that there will be close to 600,000.

This record, reached one week after Virtual Form No. 709 was made available, corresponds to almost all of it to Work Income, that is, to income from Fourth and/or Fifth Category income.

“In this way, a third of the taxpayers required to declare have done so before the maximum filing period, which runs from May 27 to June 11, 2024, according to the last digit of the RUC,” indicated Sunat.

Virtual Form No. 709 is available in both the People APP and SUNAT Virtual so that obligated taxpayers can access it from the comfort of their home 24 hours a day, without having to go to a Service Center to carry out a procedure. in person.

The aforementioned virtual form contains reference information on income, payments, withholdings and expenses so that each taxpayer can validate or modify it before submitting their return.

If a balance is determined in favor of the taxpayer, he or she may register or update, at that same moment, the Interbank Account Code (CCI), so that SUNAT pays the refund directly to his or her bank account.

On the other hand, if you have an amount to pay, people have the possibility of requesting various facilities such as the installment and/or deferral of their debt, immediately after submitting the declaration.
