More than a million foreign tourists entered Peru so far this year

Mincetur estimates to register 4.4 million international tourists by 2024.

Between January and April of this year, 1 million 16,618 international tourists entered Peru, according to the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur).

Compared to the same quarter of 2023, there is an increase of 53.4%, which reflects the good performance of the sector in its intention to return to pre-pandemic levels.

Elizabeth Galdo, head of Mincetur, specified that for this year the goal is to register 4.4 million international travelers. To date, Chile is the main source of tourists (259,300 people); followed by the United States (174,609) and Ecuador (88,062), Bolivia (59,870), Brazil (49,952) and Colombia (49,790). These six countries cover 67.1% of arrivals.

Likewise, they detailed that 621,000 tourists arrived in Peru through the Jorge Chávez International Airport (61.1%) and through the Santa Rosa de Tacna Border Control Post (204,000). Meanwhile, the CEBAF Tumbes received 72,000 tourists (7.1%) and the Desaguadero/CEBAF Puno Border Control Post received 56,000 (5.5%).
