From May 20 to August 17, members of the Private Pension System (SPP) have the opportunity to request the withdrawal of up to S/20,600 of their funds accumulated in the Administrators of pension funds (AFP). This measure, which conforms to the legislation approved in Congress, seeks to offer economic relief to citizens in the midst of financially difficult times.
However, there are certain restrictions that could prevent members from withdrawing all of their money, especially when it comes to legal obligations. Below, we explain what this impediment is and the exact dates so you can send your request depending on your DNI number.
AFP: what does it mean that your fund is intangible?
Current regulations stipulate that the AFP funds that will be withdrawn maintain their intangible status. This means that they cannot be subject to discount, legal or contractual compensation, embargo, retention or any other form of impact, whether by judicial or administrative order.
This protection ensures that the money withdrawn by members remains intact and free of any external tax, allowing the beneficiary to use it according to their immediate needs without facing additional deductions.
Why couldn’t you withdraw all the money from your AFP?
However, The law establishes a significant exception in the case of alimony debts. If a member faces judicial or conventional withholdings derived from this type of debt, the AFPs are obliged to retain up to a maximum of 30% of the funds withdrawn to comply with said food obligations.
This provision underlines the priority of family responsibilities and ensures the support of those who depend financially on the member, even when the member decides to withdraw part of his or her pension fund.
AFP Withdrawal: when will the first deposit of your funds be made?
In accordance with the regulations of the Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and AFP (SBS), the first requests for the withdrawal of up to 4 UIT (Tax Tax Units) will be accepted from May 20. Therefore, the First disbursement of 1 UIT (S/5,150) will be made no later than June 14provided that the application has been submitted on the indicated date.
What is the schedule for submitting applications?
