The Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC) appointed retired Major General FAP José Luis Barrios Espinosa as the new president of the board of directors of the Peruvian Corporation of Airports and Commercial Aviation (Córpac).

Agreement No. 001-2024/005-FONAFE also establishes the appointment of the former Vice Minister of Fisheries of the Ministry of Production (Produce), Úrsula León Chempén, as director of Córpac.

As recalled, MTC announced last March the departure of Roberto Emilio de la Torre from the presidency of Córpac, due to flight delays due to lack of operators at the Jorge Chávez Airport.

Previously, the head of the General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC), Donald Castillo, had also been appointed as a member of the board of directors of this state company.

Córpac is the state company responsible for air traffic control at the national level. Among its functions is operating, equipping and maintaining commercial airports open to said traffic.

In addition, the entity must establish, manage, operate and maintain air navigation assistance, aeronautical radio communications and air traffic control services.
