Raúl Pérez-Reyes, Minister of Transportation and Communications, announced that work is being done on a portfolio of train projects along with the new Central Highway, which translates into an investment of US$37,000 million, he told RPP.

“These projects have to do with the Lima-Ica and Lima-Barranca commuter trains, there is also the train that comes from Apurímac to Marcona (Ica), basically with mineral cargo, just like the train that comes from the high altitude area. from Chota (Cajamarca) and that goes down to the coast bringing cargo from important mining projects,” explained the minister.

Likewise, Pérez explained that The works also include lines 3 and 4 of the Lima Metro for urban transport, as well as the new Central Highway, whose technical files continue to advance.

“There is a statistic from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) that shows that Peru has one of the highest per capita infrastructure expenditures in the region, but the quality of services is not necessarily the same. So, we must work to provide more quality in the services associated with infrastructure,” emphasized the head of the portfolio.

In that sense, the new project portfolio is referred to as a package of mega works that will be worked on not only from the infrastructure perspective, but also from the quality that the services will offer.
