With the rise in electricity prices, the Consumer Price Index has risen almost four points in September in the Basque Country, as in the Spanish State.
The Consumer Price Index (IPC) has grown in the Basque Autonomous Community by 0.9% last September in relation to August and 3.9% in comparison with September 2020. On the other hand, in Navarra the CPI has risen five points, to 4.1%, compared to last year.
According to the data made public this Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), in the first eight months of the year, prices accumulated an increase of 3.1% in the Basque Autonomous Community. The biggest increase compared to August was in dress and footwear, with 6.4%, while Housing was the most inflationary sector both in the interannual variation and so far this year, with increases of 14.6 and 14%, respectively.
By territories, Álava and Gipuzkoa they have reached the figures of 2008, those of the beginning of the economic crisis of the past decade, with interannual increases of 4.1%, and Bizkaia it has been placed with an increase of 3.8%.
As regards the increase in August, it was 0.6% in Álava, 0.8% in Bizkaia and 1% in Gipuzkoa. On Navarra, has increased 0.6%. So far this year, the CPI has also increased in the three territories, to a greater extent in Gipuzkoa, with 3.5%, followed by Álava with 3.2 and Bizkaia with 2.9%.
In Spain, the CPI has risen eight tenths compared to August and a 4 % in relation to last year. So far this year, the price increase has reached 3.1%.
Among the factors that have most influenced this rebound is the rising cost of electricity, which has raised the prices of the housing group by 14.5% compared to September 2020, three points more than in August, an advance to which the increases in heating oil and gas have also contributed, which lowered the last year.
