Ministry of Economy approves budget to finance continuity of public transport

Last Wednesday, December 22, the newspaper El Peruano published in its extraordinary edition of the Legal Norms Bulletin Supreme Decree No. 369-2021-EF, presented by the Ministry of Economy and Finance that authorizes the transfer of a budget of S / 16 725 583 to increase the resources of the Urban Transportation Authority for Lima and Callao (ATU).

According to the statement, the transferred resources must be respected and the reason for which they have been granted must be fully complied with. In other words, the System of Segregated High Capacity Bus Corridors (COSAC I) and the System of Complementary Corridors.

In this sense, it can be understood that in this norm, signed by the president Pedro Castillo himself and the Minister of Economy, Pedro Francke, The Metropolitan line is also included. However, the decree mentions that Regional and Local Governments should be exempted.

“Legislative Decree of the National Public Budget System; For this purpose, the entities of the National Government, Regional Governments and Local Governments are exempted from the provisions of Article 49 of Legislative Decree No. 1440 ″, the document reads.

This decree will not only seek to reactivate public transport with the new sanitary regulations caused by COVID-19, but will also compensate for the deterioration that exists in transport, since to this day, the feeders are not operating.

“With the resources of the Contingency Reserve of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, to finance the continuity of the public service of ground transportation of people, given the impacts generated in said service by the COVID-19 pandemic,” specifies the release.
