The Peruvian Government published Law 32002, which authorizes the withdrawal of up to 4 UIT (S/20,600) from the AFPs. The day before, the Executive had announced that it would not observe the norm approved by Congress. When could the first withdrawal occur?
According to the legal device published today in El Peruano, the optional and extraordinary withdrawal of the 4 UITs will occur in four fleets, each of up to 1 UIT, that is, up to S/5,150. The professor and finance expert at PacĂfico Business School, Jorge Carrillo Acosta, draws a possible scenario.
The publication of the operating procedure must occur until May 3. In accordance with the new Law 32002, the Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and AFP (SBS) has a maximum period of 15 calendar days.
If that deadline is met, explains Carrillo, the receipt of withdrawal requests would begin on the following May 13. Given previous experience, the four AFPs that exist in the Peruvian market have released the funds almost immediately after the SBS regulations.
“The regulations should, as in previous withdrawals, indicate a reasonable period for the AFPs to implement the process, which includes establishing a schedule to submit withdrawal requests based on the DNI, creating a link to process the requests, among others. “, explains Carrillo for The Republic.
In this scenario, explains the finance specialist, effective withdrawals that could result in the withdrawal of up to S/35,000 million from the Private Pension System (SPP) would be expedited on the following dates:
- Start of 1st withdrawal (up to 1 UIT): June 12, 2024 (30 calendar days after request).
- Start of the 2nd withdrawal (up to 1 UIT): July 12, 2024 (30 calendar days after the 1st withdrawal).
- Start of the 3rd withdrawal (up to 1 UIT): August 11, 2024 (30 calendar days after the 2nd withdrawal).
- Start of the 4th withdrawal (up to 1 UIT): September 10, 2024 (30 calendar days after the 3rd withdrawal).
“Likewise, the deadline to request withdrawals would expire on August 11, 2024, 90 days from the start of the operating procedure,” he highlighted.
The day before, the economist Melvin Escudero He also projected for RPP Noticias that the first withdrawal of the 4 AFP UITs could begin in mid-June.
“Everything indicates that the first installment could be in June, and then [las siguientes armadas] in July, August and September. This implies that the country’s private pension fund, equivalent to S/125,000, could be reduced to S/90,000. When the withdrawals began, we were at S/170,000. We are practically losing half of all the savings of 30 years,” he said.
It should be noted that no date is exact and the forecasts are just that, forecasts. So it is best to only be guided by the official announcements of the Peruvian Government.
