“We are going to give them a truce, today in the afternoon we are going to release the statement that we are going to clear the road until the 30th of this month (…) We need to be cautious, ”Victor Villa, an advisor to Chumbivilcas, told Reuters.
It is worth mentioning that for that date the visit of the premier Mirtha Vásquez to the area is scheduled, which has been fighting for more than a month in search of contractual improvements with MMG Las Bambas.
The fate of the blockade in the mining corridor will be decided after the visit of Vásquez, who gave an ultimatum yesterday to the communities to lift their protest measure.
In this sense, a statement from MMG Las Bambas on the temporary unblocking in Chumbivilcas and an eventual resumption of mining production.
On the other hand, this newspaper learned that the Collana community will decide tomorrow Thursday whether to lift the blockade on its section of the corridor.
