Peruvian exports will total US$66,472 million in 2024, which will represent an increase of 3.1% compared to last year (US$64,474 million), according to projections from the Global Economy and Business Research Center of the Association of Exporters (Cien-Adex). ), thus completing its fourth consecutive year of breaking records.

However, they detail that the results are conditioned by exogenous factors such as the global economic slowdown and the monetary policy decisions of Peru’s trading partners, as well as the volatility of products such as copper and gold.

Gabriel Arrieta Padilla, head of Economic Studies and Commercial Intelligence at Cien-Adex, specified that, internally, the legal instability that is holding back investments and also the political and social tensions, along with the problems in the Chancay megaport.

“This future hub will encourage the decentralization and diversification of our exportable offer and the generation of employment, but problems in its construction may affect its benefits to Peruvian trade,” he commented.

Adex predicts that traditional shipments will rise 2.9% this year (US$47,318 million and 71.2% of the total) and non-traditional shipments, 3.6% (US$19,154 million, remaining 28.8%). The sectors that would close in blue, compared to 2023, would be: mining (1.5%), fishing and aquaculture (4%), agribusiness (3.7%) and metalworking (3.5%).

Others with good performance but without a record would be primary fishing, clothing, iron and steel, chemical, textile and various; and in red, the forestry sector, hydrocarbons, non-metallic mining and primary agriculture.
