Mincetur expects to exceed US$65,000 million in Peruvian exports in 2024

The new Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Elizabeth Galdo, said she hopes that this year Peru will achieve a new historical record in exports and reach more than US$65,000 million, above the US$64,355 million reached in 2023.

In a ceremony held at the institutional headquarters of Mincetur, the new minister received greetings from the officials and staff of the ministry, after participating in the position transfer ceremony with her predecessor, Juan Carlos Mathews Salazar.

In his speech, he recognized the professionalism of the Mincetur work team and took on the challenge of leading and leading two of the most dynamic sectors of the national economy, such as foreign trade and tourism.

Galdo also expressed confidence in achieving the arrival of 3.15 million international tourists by the end of the year and boosting domestic tourism. This, based on maintaining the work of strengthening specialized segments and the diversification of the tourism offer, and the continuity of Mincetur programs, such as Turismo Emprende, Somos Artesanía and Community Tourism.

“The relevance of tourism is a request from our president Dina Boluarte. We are focused on achieving and exceeding pre-pandemic numbers. We want domestic tourism to continue to grow as well. This sector is important to promote economic reactivation,” she highlighted.

Finally, the head of Mincetur commented that this year Peru is in the eyes of the world by hosting the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC). “This meeting offers us greater challenges, as well as strengthening tourism and the country brand,” she added.
