Mincetur: export sectors register growth of up to 84%

Export sectors grew by up to 84% during 2021, mentioned Francisco Ruiz, general director of Foreign Trade Facilitation at Mincetur.

“Our sector has been quite resilient, exports are above 38% of the previous average, in the case of imports they have also had a favorable performance,” he said.

In that sense, he explained that between January and October the agricultural sector achieved shipments for US $ 6,816 million, 17.8% more than in 2020; the chemical US $ 1,624 million (+ 29.7%), while the fishery reached US $ 1,373 million (+ 42.2%), the textile US $ 1,373 million (+ 72%) and the metallurgical US $ 959 million (+ 84%)

For his part, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Roberto Sánchez, commented that the good result is due to the improvement in international prices and the recovery of world economic activity.

The official explained that these growth rates are higher than the Latin American average. In addition, he highlighted that this year record levels were reached in traditional and non-traditional exports. In this way, he explained that until the end of the year, traditional shipments will exceed S / 40,000 million and non-traditional ones will be S / 16,000 million.

Finally, he highlighted that 20 regions registered growth in their exports between January and October of this year.
