Congress: initiative advances to include snacks in the working day

A few days ago, the Congressional Labor Commission approved the opinion that seeks to include the snack within the working day.

It is worth emphasizing that said initiative presented by Isabel Cortez (Together for Peru), modifies article 7 of the Law on working hours, hours and overtime for employees with regular hours.

Thus, the opinion specifies that the refreshment time is part of the day and may not be less than 45 minutes unless there is an individual agreement or collective agreement that improves these conditions for the worker.

The current regulations specify that the refreshment time is not computable as part of the working day; However, the bill emphasizes that the snack must be understood “Not only as a worker’s right, but also as part of the business interest; since fatigue and tiredness negatively affect people’s work ”.

This opinion now awaits its passage to the Plenary of Congress to be debated, together with the law that declares November 5 as Municipal Worker’s Day, also approved in said working group.
