The Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) concluded the appointment of lawyer Isabel Tafur as president of the board of directors of Perupetro and appointed Jorge Eduardo Pesantes Escalante in her place.

Supreme resolution No. 003-2024-EM confirms the departure of Tafur Marín, who had been in office since October 2022, while supreme resolution No. 004-2024-EM confirms the return of lawyer Pesantes to the agency in charge of promote the country’s hydrocarbon deposits.

During the administration of the now former president of Perupetro, lots Z-2B and VI were reverted, although temporarily, to the state oil company; Anadarko’s exploration activities began off the sea of ​​La Libertad; and progress was made with the allocation process for Lot 8, for now with Upland; among others.

Perupetro is the state agency in charge of promoting investment in hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation activities, the negotiation and supervision of contracts, as well as the collection of agreed royalties.
