Cofopri continues to register free lots throughout Peru: how do I know if they will visit my home?

Cofopri (Informal Property Formalization Body) continues to carry out a national campaign with the aim of facilitating obtaining property title for free.

The week of March 18, the organization together with the Municipality of Pucusana benefited 5,000 inhabitants of the area by signing an agreement to speed up the process of formalizing homes and registering them with the National Superintendency of Public Registries (Sunarp). If you are interested in accessing this benefit, and want to know the places where Cofopri will come to carry out the registration, in this note, we will tell you.

Requirements for Cofopri registration

Cofopri requires certain documents to carry out the registration of your home. These papers must demonstrate your ownership and relationship to the land. These include the marriage certificate (if you are legally married), the purchase and sale contract, the public deed, the will, the daughter or some proof of possession.

In addition, it is essential to present receipts for basic services such as water, electricity and telephone to support the ownership or possession of the land. It is important to keep in mind that the certificate of possession issued by the municipalities is not the only valid document to prove possession of the land.

What homes do not qualify for Cofopri titling?

There are certain circumstances that may make your home ineligible to receive a free title from Cofopri. For example, if it is located in areas considered to have non-mitigatable risk, such as areas susceptible to flooding, soil liquefaction or activation of streams, it will not qualify.

Additionally, homes located in reserved or protected areas, or that are involved in ongoing judicial proceedings, will also not be eligible for the program. It is important to note that this benefit does not apply to those who already own other property registered at the national level.

Cofopri: What does registration consist of?

Here we explain what Cofopri registration entails so that you are prepared when the time comes to obtain your property title for free.

When your community or urban area receives notification of the planned visit by Cofopri, each person who owns land must be present and have all documentation prepared.

When the Cofopri technician visits your home, you must present your identification document (DNI) and show the necessary original documents.

If everything is in order, Cofopri will give you the property title you want so much during a community event.
