In recent years, North Lima has experienced notable economic development and became an area of considerable interest to businessmen in the area. Peru. With this vision in mind, in 2018, Capital Inversor chose to announce the first mall in Puente Piedra, an ambitious project designed to meet the growing consumer demand in the neighboring districts of Carabayllo, San Martín de Porres (SMP) Comas and Ancón. However, although several years have passed since this proposal was reported, to date there is not much news about the shopping center.
Below, we tell you everything that happened with the Investor Capital initiative almost six years after its initial notice.
What happened to the Puente Piedra mall?
Although the large-scale project, called Las Vegas Plaza, was unveiled in 2018, it has shown little progress in its development, with construction yet to begin on the first of seven planned floors. In the extensive 37,000 square meter land intended for the shopping center, it is observed that it is completely fenced and construction materials can be seen scattered throughout the area.
According to residents of the area, no workers have been seen entering or leaving the site for quite some time, so construction of the work would be on pause. “No one comes here. The work has been paralyzed for three years or so,” a resident of the district told La República.

It is important to highlight that the most recent information about this project indicated that work would begin in November 2023 and its official inauguration was expected to take place in September 2024.
What stores would the first Puente Piedra mall have?
According to the company’s latest statement, Las Vegas Plaza was to include retail establishments, movie theaters, restaurant areas, food courts, banks, supermarkets and family leisure areas. In this way, it would adapt to the commercial and growth trends that are currently present in the country.
Where will the first shopping center in Puente Piedra be located?
The strategic location of the megaproject will be on block 4 of Av. San Juan de Dios, very close to the Plaza Vea supermarket and the Homecenter Maestro, and 3 blocks from the Puente Piedra oval.
Lino Díaz, director of Capital Investor, stated that the creation of the first shopping center in Puente Piedra will occur with the main objective of supplying the high demand of the district’s population.

“We made the decision to enter Puente Piedra because we represent a direct population of 300,000 inhabitants of the district and 1.2 million inhabitants in the area of influence, with a fundamentally aspirational consumer, with a growing purchasing capacity and needs not yet satisfied by the offer currently available. This, added to the excellent location and a great commercial proposal, become an important potential for our business and that of all the brands that will be part of the shopping center,” he declared for Gestión.
