GDP: economy registered a rebound of 1.37% in January 2024

Discrete growth in gross domestic product barely compensates for the drop in January 2023, a period of protests against the Government of Dina Boluarte.

The economic activity In January it reported an increase of 1.37%, revealed the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI). It is important to highlight that this advance is compared to January 2023, a period in which, according to the official narrative of the Executive, the economy was affected by the protests against the Government of Dina Boluarte and contracted by 1.12%.

The modest growth in the first month of 2024 is based on the progress of construction, which grew by 13.16%, however it is a rebound effect to the extent that in January 2023 it plummeted by 11.70%.

According to the INEInational production during the last twelve months, February 2023-January 2024, presented a variation of -0.38%. Meanwhile, the seasonally adjusted GDP index for January 2024 registered a variation of 0.45%, compared to the immediately previous month.
