As a result of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) not extending the decree that requires pharmacies and pharmacies to have a stock of generic medicines – which are cheaper than brand-name medicines – the Government of Dina Boluarte would have one ready for establishments once again comply with this measure.
According to the Minister of Economy and Finance, José Arista, “between today (Thursday, March 14) or tomorrow (Friday) an emergency decree would be issued” for generic medications to be offered.
Hours ago, the head of the Minsa, César Vásquez, also indicated “that in the next few hours” they would issue the rule so that establishments have a minimum stock of 30%.
During his participation in the Congressional Consumer Defense Commission, Minister Vásquez assured that the opinion to be published “is going to hurt the pharmacies” and they hope that “Congress is firm” because they are going to “move their economic pen.”
“The emergency decree that everyone defends has been practically useless. It is a mockery because the minimum percentage has not been set,” he noted.
