This Friday, March 8, the book “State and Property in Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru” by the late Francisco Durand, John Crabtree (University of Oxford) and Jonas Wolff (University of Frankfurt) is presented.
The commentators are Paula Tavara, Aldo Panfichi and Humberto Campodónico. The event will take place at the PUCP Cultural Center, Avenida Camino Real 1037, at 6 pm.
The book addresses the development of business power and its relationship with the State in Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru based on differentiated economic models that are reflected in the forms of government, starting in 1930, placing emphasis on the years of neoliberalism and post neoliberalism.
Along these lines, it defines business power – under a theoretical framework with a multidimensional approach that includes its instrumental, structural and discursive power – to explain and understand how economic elites have maintained their relationship with the State and their dominant position in the economy and the society.
