Women play a central role in productive work, ensuring food for families and sustenance for their own. To strengthen its work in the field through access to agricultural technology, the Compensation Program for Competitiveness – Agroideas of the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri), has arranged that associated women, members of Family Farming, will be a priority attention group in the approval of Business Plans.
Given this, within the framework of the actions prior to the “International Day of Rural Women”, the owner of the Midagri, VĂctor Maita, indicated that the participation of women in the second agrarian reform is essential, which seeks to improve services to producers of Family Agriculture, to improve their quality of life. In this sense, the ministry will articulate sectoral actions for the benefit of rural women through the Directorate for the Promotion of Agricultural Women Producers.
These guidelines, driven by Agroideas, will seek to promote the increase of the technical capacities of small producers through access to technological improvements to develop enterprises in a sustainable way, strengthening value chains with products that allow them to improve their income.
The objective of this provision is to recognize the role of the producers of family agriculture. Currently, more than 19,000 women, dedicated mainly to raising guinea pigs, growing corn, quinoa, coffee and avocado, in addition to milk production, they have accessed the co-financing of Business Plans of Agroideas, to strengthen its productive and business development.
On the other hand, young associates of intermediate subsistence, between 18 and 29 years old, will also be considered as a relevant group at the time of approval of plans. The goal is to guarantee the transfer of knowledge to the new generations that are starting in agricultural activity, promoting work in the field with the implementation of agricultural infrastructure and technology through Agroideas, which provides financial access to intermediate subsistence rural producers.
It should be noted that, to date, the MidagriThrough Agroideas, it has approved a total of 1,598 Business Plans, the investment of which involves 554 million soles by the State and 195 million soles by agricultural organizations. The execution of these plans has benefited more than 64,000 producers of family farming in all regions of the country.
