Second version of the guide for the operation of the Peru Carbon Footprint is approved

In order to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, the Government approved the second version of the guide for the operation of the Peru Carbon Footprint tool (HC-Peru), through the Ministerial Resolution No. 185-2021-MINAM, which comes as a replacement for N ° 237-2020-MINAM.

This, after the General Directorate of Climate Change and Desertification proposed and supported a final version of the project to update the “Guide for the operation of the Peru Carbon Footprint tool”, so that citizens have greater certainty and clarity on the use of the Carbon Footprint tool and continue to strengthen the commitment of public and private organizations to improve the management of their emissions

The HC-Peru, or better known as Peru Carbon Footprint, is a tool that recognizes the performance of public and private organizations in managing their GHG emissions. This contributes to sustainable and low-carbon growth, within the framework of the comprehensive management of climate change for the benefit of citizens and increasing the competitiveness and sustainability of our economy.

The platform is articulated with the National Inventory of Greenhouse Gases (Infocarbon) and the National Registry of Mitigation Measures (Renami), it is part of the System for the Measurement of Mitigation Measures that the country applies with a multisectoral, multilevel approach and multi-stakeholder, in accordance with the provisions of the Framework Law on Climate Change and its regulations.

There are 122 organizations that are part of the Peru Carbon Footprint tool, which have calculated their GHG emissions. Of these companies and institutions, 109 have verified their footprint, nine began to reduce them and four neutralized them.
