According to figures from Touch Latam, a company specialized in HR solutions, staffing requirements for “Back to School” increased by 25% compared to a normal month, despite the complex moment the company is going through. industry.

In this regard, Adrián Cueva, Business Manager of Touch Perú, points out that companies have taken precautions to counteract the effects that a drop in the hiring of sales teams could have compared to more prosperous years for commerce.

“One of the strategies deployed by the brands was to strengthen digital channels, projecting an estimated turnover of up to S/80 million in ecommerce; in addition to not increasing prices, sacrificing profit margins due to the impact on parents’ pockets due to the country’s economic situation,” he says.

Cueva adds that “although it is natural that in difficult times companies adjust their growth projections and reduce their operational and structural costs, the ‘Back to School’ campaign concentrates a large volume of hiring that occurs in the peak periods of work, such as Christmas and Mother’s Day, in which we activate a greater number of people.

“Thus, generally at this time we must fill around 400 more vacancies than in normal months,” adds the specialist.

The department store sector reaches 65% of new employee requests, followed by Supermarkets, with 35%.

“Even though there are other items that cannot be associated with the school season, they still show growth at this time of year, due to the holiday season, especially in the south of Lima and in the north of the country.

“This is the case of the beaches of Punta Hermosa and Asia, which increase their staffing by up to 300% in the summer season,” he notes.
