Know the price of the main foods in retail markets in Lima

A team of The Republic He toured three retail markets in Metropolitan Lima to find out the price of chicken and eggs, as well as other foods that make up the basic family basket.

Regarding a kilo of egg, it is offered for up to S/9 when in previous weeks it could be found for S/7, according to merchants. On the other hand, a kilo of whole chicken is offered for up to S/10.50, that is, S/2 more than it cost last week.

The tuber most consumed by Peruvians, the potato, is between S/4 and S/5, and shows a slight increase, since in the previous days it could be found for up to S/3.50.

On the other hand, there are some foods that maintain their price and even show a slight decrease. This is the case of lemon, which is between S/3 and S/3.50 per kilo, while last week it was at S/3.50. In the case of onion, Its price also ranges between S/3 and S/3.50 per kilo, when it could be found for up to S/2.50.

The supply of fruits and vegetables increases

Supply of essential products It exceeded 9,000 tons of fruits and vegetables. The largest offers stand out in carrots, broad beans, pumpkins, onions, bananas, oranges, watermelons, melons, among others, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri).

Regarding the total supply of vegetables and fruits to the main wholesale supply markets, the entry of 9,061 tons was reported, adding the reports from the Great Wholesale Market of Lima (GMML) and the Fruit Market No. 2 of La Victoria.

In the case of the GMML, the entry of 6,673 tons of products was recorded, including legumes, vegetables and tubers, higher figure by 4.7% compared to the last four Mondays.

Likewise, the entry of 877 tons of potatoes and their different varieties was reported, an amount greater by 24.4% in relation to the last four Mondays. For the entity, stocks are at optimal levels for most products.
