Exchange rate: dollar starts the week lower at S/3.8157 this Monday, February 19

The dollar in our country is under pressure after the Peruvian Government confirmed a 0.55% drop in its GDP in 2023, the harshest in more than 30 years.

The dollar exchange rate started the week lower and was close to S/3.8157 this Monday, February 19, according to preliminary data from the Bloomberg international currency exchange portal.

On the previous day on Friday, the greenback had started its career at S/3.8480 and then progressed to S/3.8220 at the official closing set by the Central Reserve Bank (BCRP).

The dollar in our country is under pressure after the Peruvian Government confirmed a 0.55% drop in its GDP in 2023, the harshest in more than 30 years.

At the international level, poverty in Argentina grew 57.4% last January, according to the latest study by the Social Debt Observatory of the Argentine Catholic University (ODSA-UCA). This figure would be the highest in the last two decades.

In addition, copper fell 0.7% to US$8,427 per metric ton this Monday. Prices of the metal hit a two-week high of $8,499.50 on Friday. There is disappointment around measures from the Chinese central bank.
