According to the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (Midis), a total of 184,767 older adults received financial aid from the Government for the first time, within the framework of Pensión 65.
Cajamarca saw the largest number of new users (19,186 older adults), followed by Lima (18,181), Piura (16,412), Cusco (14,593), San Martín (12,170), La Libertad (12,830) and Puno (10,654).
It should be added that these Peruvians will receive S/250 every two months as they are in a situation of poverty.
The payment was made with the support of the Banco de la Nación, municipalities, Reniec, regional health directorates and other allied institutions.
“This is the result of the home visits that we have been carrying out to collect the sworn statements of potential users, the final document so that they can be in the program and thus collect their S/250 bimonthly. We are marking a milestone in the country’s public social development policy, thus beginning to close the social gap,” said Julio Mendigure, executive director of Pensión 65.
