The project, called “Improvement of the Sewerage and Wastewater Treatment System of the City of Puerto Maldonado, Tambopata District, Tambopata Province, Madre de Dios Department” (Puerto Maldonado WWTP)”, will be developed under the Public-Private Partnership modality. (APP) co-financed.
Under this modality, the title entity in charge of the project, the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation (MVCS), as grantor, will assume 100% of the co-financing of the investment.
The Puerto Maldonado WWTP project includes the construction, rehabilitation, expansion, operation and maintenance of the collection, treatment and final disposal systems of municipal wastewater in the city of Puerto Maldonado.

The Puerto Maldonado WWTP project aims to contribute to closing gaps in drinking water and sewage, provide an efficient and sustainable wastewater treatment and disposal service, contribute to the decontamination of the Tambopata and Madre de Dios rivers, and reduce incidents. of diseases to preserve health and improve the quality of life of the population, benefiting nearly 120,000 people.

The estimated investment in the Puerto Maldonado WWTP project, not including VAT, would amount to S/365 million (approximately US$97.7 million), and the concession term will be 23 years.
Through the PPP scheme, the sustainability of the project in the long term will be ensured, because it will allow adequate operation and maintenance of the primary collection, treatment and final disposal system of wastewater, with high quality standards, avoiding contamination of the Tambopata rivers. and Mother of God.
