Peru is recognized as the best cultural destination

Peru was established as the “Cultural tourism destination of the year” in the prestigious Voyage Awards 2023. The award given by the leading high-end travel magazine, Voyage, recognizes our country as one of the favorite places for elite Chinese travelers.

Competing with emblematic destinations such as Australia, Spain, Jordan, Ireland, Croatia, among others, “Peru stood out as a unique option that captivates travelers with its vast cultural heritage and diversity of landscapes,” Promperú highlighted.

It is important to mention that, in December 2023, Voyage magazine was invited to visit our country by Promperú. This trip also included the participation of the renowned Chinese actor Xia Yu, selected as an ambassador of sustainable tourism. The renowned artist was able to explore the enigmatic Inca culture and experienced first-hand the wonders of Machu Picchu and the Titicaca lake.

Favorite destination

Peru has a great history of recognition in China, and has established itself as an exceptional tourist destination. In May 2019, the country was awarded the Best International Tourism Digital Marketing Campaign by COTRI & Ctrip Award, and took home the coveted Gold Award (first place). The same year it stood out as the best gastronomic destination at the Voyage Awards.

The streak of success continued in August 2019, when Peru received the Most Promising Outbound Destination Award from Sina Weibo, while in May 2023 it again won the award in the Media-Internet category, awarded by COTRI, securing first place.
