The Beer Chamber of Peru (CCP) proposed that The application of the Selective Consumption Tax (ISC) to alcoholic beverages must be carried out from April and the greatest burden of said tax must be made in the last quarter of the year.
Carla Sifuentes, general manager of the CCP, explained that this way will prevent the results of the summer campaign from being affected and will allow companies in the category to assume the higher ISC load in a better economic moment in the country.
This proposal comes while the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) defines the schedule that will be followed for the application of the ISC, after the head of the sector, Alex Contreras, indicated that It was going to be carried out gradually. and that the MEF would be open to dialogue with the different actors.
βIt is important that as soon as possible there is clarity regarding the announced gradualness, so that the category and the businesses that make up its value chain, such as wineries, restaurants or hotels, can take appropriate precautions. Hopefully we can have a constructive dialogue to find solutions that benefit everyone,β Sifuentes said.
According to ministerial resolution 030-2024-EF, The ISC will be raised on beer, cigarettes, reheated tobacco and alcoholic beverages such as pisco and wine as of March 1. The MEF will publish, before the end of February, a schedule for its gradual application.
The ISC of beer (per liter) will go from S/2.31 to S/2.51; for cigarettes (per stick) it will go from S/0.36 to S/0.37; In the case of pisco (per liter) it will range from S/2.27 to S/2.48. For other drinks, the increase has also been applied depending on the degree of alcohol they have. It is worth pointing out that the 620 ml bottle β the most consumed in the country β will have an increase of less than S/0.20.
