PCM will create a multisector commission to eliminate bureaucratic barriers

The president of the Council of Ministers, Alberto Otárola, announced that a multi-sector commission will be created to eliminate bureaucratic barriers with the aim of giving a boost to private investment. This communication occurred after the official met with the main representatives of Comex, ADEX and the Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL).

“Today we continue the democratic dialogue with business associations! I reported that we complied with the first agreement: the creation of a multi-sector commission to eliminate bureaucratic barriers and thus promote efficient private investment,” the minister enthusiastically published on the social network (Twitter).

The Government spokesperson added that all ministries are in charge of the president Dina Boluarte to unblock works, close social gaps and promote investment, as well as support entrepreneurs to generate employment; and that this is the formula on which they will continue to bet, since it will allow the process of reactivation of the country’s economy to continue.

The heads of Economy and Finance also participated in this meeting; Transport and Communications; and the executive president of Indecopi.

It should be noted that this is the second round of meetings with representatives of the private sector. On January 31, the meeting was with the dean of the Lima Departmental Council of the College of Engineers of Peru (CIP), Roque Benavides; the executive director of the National Construction and Infrastructure Society (SNCI), César Candela; the head of the National Industrial Society (SNI), Jesús Salazar Nishi; the director of the National Confederation of Private Business Institutions (Confiep), Martín Naranjo; among others.

Although there are still no official figures, in its latest projection the Central Reserve Bank (BCRP) estimated that private investment will fall 5.3% at the end of 2023. Meanwhile, the MEF expects that in 2024 it will recover and reach 2%.

What are bureaucratic barriers?

When starting a business, economic agents must take into account certain aspects such as the demands, requirements, prohibitions, limitations and charges imposed by public administration entities to access or remain in the formal market. These types of impositions are called bureaucratic barriers, explains Indecopi.

It is worth remembering that in the first half of 2023, 981 bureaucratic barriers were voluntarily eliminated by various public entities, while 1,862 people (among officials, economic agents and citizens in general) were trained by the Commission for the Elimination of Bureaucratic Barriers of Indecopi. .
