During 2023, the Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and AFP (SBS) registered a total of 1,847 complaints related to financial informality schemes. Likewise, it issued alerts about 78 illegal loan applications, 10 businesses that do not have proper authorization and four companies that offer fraudulent loans.
This situation seems not to have changed much at present, since the SBS issued a recent statement to warn that money raising schemes are operating in our country that do not have the permission of the institution. For this reason, in the following note we review a list of the entities that offer loans and manage savings illegally and contravene the provisions of article 11 of Law 26702.
SBS 2024: which entities do not have authorization to raise money?
The Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and AFP (SBS) alerted citizens that there are some entities and schemes that do not have authorization to raise money in the country. However, they operate on various websites and social networks, where they offer investments to users. Get to know them below:
- Arceo Corporación SAC – ‘Arceo Investments’
- La Granja de Brezza SAC – ‘Brezza Projects’ ‘Brezza & Associates’
- Jubeadsa LYG Corporate SAC – ‘L&G Economic Group’
- Lima Capital Group
- ABC Capital SAC
Why should these financial entities have authorization from the SBS?
Pursuant to article 11 of Law 26702, ‘General Law of the financial system and the insurance system and organization of the Superintendency of Banking and Insurance’, persons who intend to “capture or receive money from third parties, in the form of a deposit, mutual or any other modality”, require the authorization of this entity.
Finally, the SBS calls on citizens to be adequately informed and take appropriate precautions to decide responsibly where to save or invest their money, or require a financial service of any kind.
SBS 2024: how to report financial informality?
The Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and AFP (SBS) called on the population to be properly informed and take the necessary precautions when deciding where to save and invest their money. Along these lines, there are the following communication channels to report these financial informality activities carried out by people or companies that do not have the corresponding authorization from the entity or that are not registered:
- Call 0-800-10840 (toll-free nationwide) or 01-200-1930
- Write to the email informalidad@sbs.gob.pe
- Visit the SBS website.
What are the informal loan apps that you should avoid?
The SBS reported that there are more of 70 informal applications that have been operating in the country. Through these apps, a series of money loans are offered and disbursed, either at the user’s request or without having requested it. In this sense, when demanding payments, they usually include excessive charges and use harmful practices against the honor of clients, such as threats or extortion.
